Sabrina Lisa Clery, also known as SabrinaSahara, is an intuitive multi-disciplinary artist and author whose creative expressions span abstract art, collage, resin art, crystal jewelry making, music, dance, writing, cooking, lifestyle marketing, event producing, holistic healing and mommying. Currently residing in Brooklyn with her teenage daughter, Kaya Sky, Sabrina is originally from Canada with St. Lucian roots. With over 25 years experience as a singer/songwriter, band leader and creative director, Sabrina records and performs with her band, Red Sahara, set to release their debut album this year. 

Sabrina’s passion for abstract art is explored through acrylic paint pouring, brushwork and mixed media techniques. Sabrina holds a Bachelor of Arts from Concordia University and Master of Arts from New York University and uses her diverse artistic acumen to create and curate various forms of sacred expressions that bridge creativity, healing, and ancestral wisdom.

I have always had a passion for the abstract art world and have been creating art since I was a child. I work with acrylics and love combining organic materials used in my other artistic endeavors including crystals and other natural elements to bring a 3D effect and extra life to my pieces. As a result I encourage viewers to touch my art to enjoy a multisensory experience. The natural elements used also pay homage to my ancestors and Orisa and I include them in every creation. My personal and professional brand is coined “Back II Natural” for those very reasons and my artistic process is always spiritually aligned as I often experience trance-like states as I allow the forces of nature to guide my hands and heart. 

I never know how a piece is going to turn out and I never start with a sketch or clear concept. It is an organic process of layering contrasting colors, organic elements and textured materials that I am led to in the moment. The cosmic communion between myself and the energies that guide me is always a surreal sacred surrender that leaves me fueled and fulfilled. Despite all the ways I express creatively, painting is where I feel most at home, at peace and in total alignment with Self & Source.

I refer to my work as affordable abstract art because I believe in the importance of making art accessible to everyone, especially during these challenging economic and political times. It is less important for me to inflate prices to appeal to the fine art industry and instead offer organic art to the real people I live among. Art heals and inspires so it is not only imperative for artists to make art, but imperative for us to make it easier for our communities to experience it.
